What an April Fool
I’m not usually big on April Fools, but what happened yesterday was pretty funny (or stupid).
Last night, shortly before April 1 ends, I was on my way to the movies to finally catch Avatar in 3D. Yes, I never saw it before. Thus, you can understand my excitement in being able to see the very last showing in 3D ever.
In order to ensure that I’d be guaranteed a seat, I planned on buying tickets on Fandango several days in advance. But since there was a Visa promo on Fandango, my friend purchased the tickets instead since I don’t have a single Visa card on me.
In short, here’s how the experience went:
- showed up at the theatres 45 min early
- there was a LONG line outside the theater. fortunately the theater was big enough.. with 3 levels of seating.. so we ended up getting decent seats. the whole place was packed and it was basically a sold out show.
- after the frenzy in finding seats, my friends and I were highly excited as we were sitting there waiting for the show to start.. and even brought some tasty array of snacks, candy, and beer to make the experience more enjoyable.
- after the previews finished, the movie started playing.. which is when I started to get suspicious…
I thought to myself: Where are the blue people, and why are they talking about Gods?
My friend thought: This is a really long preview..
I suddenly recalled seeing a “Clash 3D” label above the theater door, but originally dismissed it thinking it was the previous movie.
Crap! This is not Avatar. This is Clash of the Titans! …
(checked phone to see movie times at the theater)
Last showing of Avatar was 3pm earlier that day. I check my ticket stub.. it says “Avatar 3D” !! wtf?? I check the date. Wed 3/31. OMG !! =(
So long story short.. I didn’t end up getting to watch Avatar as planned. Fortunately, our ticket was still accepted (the guy didn’t notice?) and we got to see Clash… but I didn’t think it was that good of a movie.
